Brenda Johnson Landscape Painting and Drawing Summer 2010

This was my first time working in Plein Air, it was quiet different, however I really enjoyed the tall grass and filed of flowers, that was to my right side and the landscape of green grass, trees and bushes to my left.  I chose to use oil pastels to create my scape painting.  This was a challenge I had never used this type of medium,  however I painted my very first landscape painting.

This is my home work assignment and I created this in watercolor from a photo I was painting more of the shapes in this painting. I think I was making a little progress.

Watercolor homework assignment, painted in Plein Air on a beach I enjoyed painting this painting I felt  free.  Landscape painting is still a challenge for me. Home work assignment of trees abstracted I used hard pastels I drew this from a photo of tall tress I had taken this photo at the library at Northwest Michigan College.  I am going to use a larger canvas and paint from the same photo in oil.

This is not the original painting that I was painting on the beach by the light house, however the original painting was causing me much pain.  I went back to my room and tried to continue painting it wasn't working out so I painted from a photo I used watercolor paint.

Collage assignment construction paper I think I was more successful with this landscape.

This painting was created at the Chateau Chantal this sight was breath taking,  I painted up close of the grapevines.  When I was at this sight it reminded me of how BIG God is I was so overtaken by the view I humbled down to painting the vines.  One of my most successful paintings I used oil pastels.
